Ongoing fighting forces Khartoum hospitals to shut down

The violent clashes between Sudan’s top generals have led to chaos in Khartoum’s hospitals, leaving doctors, nurses, and patients trapped inside without proper medical supplies, electricity or water. The fighting, which erupted suddenly, has resulted in more than 185 deaths and over 1,800 injuries.

Hospitals in the city and neighboring areas are understaffed, overwhelmed, and running low on essential medical supplies, such as blood, intravenous fluids, and transfusion equipment.

The World Health Organization reported that many hospitals in Khartoum reported shortages of life-saving commodities, and medical staff and their families have been trapped in their homes since the fighting began.
