Police in Delta state arrest butcher for stabbing wife to death

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a butcher for the alleged murder of his wife in Warri metropolis. The unfortunate incident took place on Thursday evening when the suspect attempted to collect hot water for bathing upon returning from the market.

According to reports, the wife refused to allow him to touch the hot water on the cooker, citing his failure to provide money for household expenses or refill the cooking gas cylinder. However, the suspect disregarded his wife’s refusal and forcefully went to the gas cooker to collect the hot water.

This led to a confrontation between the couple, with the wife attempting to defend herself by grabbing a kitchen knife with the intention to stab her husband, the man overpowered her and used the same knife to inflict multiple stab wounds on her until she collapsed.

Realizing the severity of his actions, the suspect rushed his injured wife to a private hospital for treatment. Subsequently, his daughter, distraught by the incident, reported it to the nearby police station, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, acknowledged the arrest of the suspect. The Delta State Police Command is actively investigating the case and taking appropriate legal actions in accordance with the law.
