According to various sources, the former President of the United States is reportedly planning to surrender himself to federal authorities in New York City, following an indictment by a grand jury. The charges, which have not yet been made public, relate to a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The former President is expected to fly from Florida on his private plane, accompanied by Secret Service agents, for added security measures.
As of now, it is unclear how many charges the indictment contains, as it is still sealed. However, the former President’s lawyer has confirmed that he has not yet had a chance to read the document. Speaking to ABC News, he did confirm that the former President will “probably” appear in court on Tuesday, but cautioned that nothing was certain.

Despite this uncertainty, it has been reported that the former President will not be handcuffed upon surrendering to authorities, as he is not deemed to be a flight or safety risk. The official involved in coordinating his surrender did confirm, however, that the process is likely to involve dozens or possibly even hundreds of Secret Service agents. These measures are being coordinated by the FBI, NYPD, Secret Service, and New York City court officers.
The former President, who is 76 years old, has denied any wrongdoing in connection with the Stormy Daniels payment. He is the first former or current President of the United States to face a criminal charge. However, it should be noted that the exact charges have not been made public, and so far only rumors and speculation have been circulating in the media.

Despite these rumors, there has been a flurry of activity around the courthouse in preparation for the former President’s arrival. Security plans are being put into place, and the district attorney’s office has reportedly received “many threats” in connection with the case. Sources have confirmed that law enforcement officials are preparing for a range of possible scenarios, including attacks against the former President, prosecutors, jurors, or members of the public.

Despite these concerns, the Manhattan District Attorney has maintained that the charges have been brought forth by citizens doing their civic duty, and that neither the former President nor Congress can interfere with the proceedings. Nevertheless, there have been efforts by the former President and his supporters to discredit the investigation and rally support behind his defense.
The former President has reportedly begun attacking the judge assigned to his case, in an effort to undermine the credibility of the investigation. Meanwhile, Republicans – including House Speaker Kevin McCarthy – have accused the Manhattan district attorney of weaponizing the criminal justice system to influence next year’s presidential election.
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green, who was recently suggested by the former President as a potential Senate candidate, has called on her followers to protest and has announced plans to be present in New York City next week.

President Joe Biden declined to comment on the indictment, despite being pressed on the issue by journalists as he left the White House on a trip to Mississippi. Mr Tacopina said Mr Trump was being “pursued by a prosecutor who has obviously very diverse political views from the president.
So it’s a very troubling case”. He said the former president was “not worried at all” about the charges. “He’s upset, angry. He’s being persecuted politically. That is clear to many people, not only on the Right but on the Left.”
