The Federal Government has stated that it is not aware of any official in the Presidential Villa working against the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as alleged by Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai. During a press briefing after the Federal Executive Council meeting, the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, addressed El-Rufai’s claims.

El-Rufai had claimed that certain elements within the Presidential Villa are seeking to undermine the APC’s electoral prospects, citing the controversy surrounding petroleum subsidies as an example. However, Mohammed assured journalists that the government is committed to conducting a free, fair, and credible election, with President Buhari leading the charge.

The President has consistently stressed this commitment in his public appearances, most recently in Daura, where he reiterated his stance on a level electoral playing field. The Federal Government does not have any official knowledge of anyone working against any candidate, Mohammed added.
