Osimhen is a fantastic player but he needs some improvement – Jose Mourinho

AS Roma’s manager, Jose Mourinho, has praised Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as a fantastic player but has emphasized the need for him to improve in certain areas of his game. After a league match against Napoli, which Osimhen opened with a goal, taking his Serie A tally to 14, Mourinho was full of praise for the young striker.

Mourinho compared Osimhen to Ivorian legend Didier Drogba, stating that the level of skill and talent was there, but he noticed a key difference between the two players. According to the former Chelsea boss, Drogba never dived when he had the ball, whereas Osimhen was prone to diving in certain situations.

The former Manchester United manager was quick to point out that Osimhen was still a fantastic player and had the potential to become one of the greats if he continued to develop and improve his game.

In a post-match press conference, Mourinho stated that he had a conversation with Osimhen about his tendency to dive, telling him that he scored an amazing goal but didn’t need to dive all the time.

Mourinho acknowledged that Osimhen’s diving could have been the result of several factors, including pressure from the opposing team, the need to win, or just a lack of experience. Regardless, the experienced manager felt it was important to bring the issue to the attention of the young striker and encourage him to work on it.
