Does the movie ‘Shanty Town’ accurately portray the real-life illegal drug dealings in Lagos state?

Speculations and comments have been circulating on the internet among viewers of the newly released Nollywood movie “Shanty Town.” The movie, which depicts a drug-filled world of thugs and illegal activities taking place in Nigeria’s capital city, Lagos, has left many wondering if the directors and producers were trying to bring to light the activities of an undisclosed politician allegedly involved in these illegal dealings.

The movie centers around a high-ranking politician, played by the popular Nollywood actor Richard Mofe Damijo, who owns a drug business in the capital city alongside his ally known as “Scar.”

The film portrays illegal drug activities as a norm with no interference from law enforcement agencies or the government, due to a politician known as the godfather in the movie.

The story also shows how the organs and kidneys of ladies used for prostitution in the drug house are harvested and sold when they reach a stage where they could attain freedom.

Many Nigerians have linked a recent drug case involving a high-ranking politician contesting for a political post to the movie, leading to widespread speculation about whether this could be the actual situation taking place and not yet exposed to the media.

Additionally, a recent case in which Nigeria’s drug agency, the NDLEA, seized tons of cocaine and other drugs from traffickers whose names will remain undisclosed for security reasons, was suddenly set on fire at an undisclosed location with only government officials and security agents present at the scene. This too has been linked to the movie and the alleged politician involved in drug trafficking.

It is worth noting that, with no further investigation or cooperation with any private agency to publish this story, these speculations and thoughts will remain compiled together from the internet by citizens of Nigeria on the newly released movie, “Shanty Town.”
