At least 10 people were killed in a collision between a Mack Truck and a Toyota Hiace bus on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Oniworo early Saturday morning. Ahmed Umar, Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed this in a statement to the press in Abeokuta.
The accident occurred around 4:30 am and was caused by a road obstruction on the part of the trailer and also excessive speed and loss of control on the part of the driver of the bus. The bus, marked KLD 539 XA, lost control and collided with the unregistered truck. 19 people were involved in the accident, 13 male adults and 6 female adults. 2 male adults sustained injuries while 7 male adults, 2 female adults, and one female child died in the accident.

The injured were taken to Victory Hospital in Ogere for medical attention and the deceased were taken to Ipara morgue. Umar urged motorists to always use their headlights in poor weather conditions.
